Product Description
The Hanna Instruments HI 983306-01 is a water-resistant meter for continuous measurement of total dissolved solids (TDS) with Automatic Temperature Compensation (ATC), manual one-point calibration, a single-line LCD screen, a direct 2-pin probe, and an outer casing with molded eye to hang the meter. A TDS meter measures substance conductivity through presence of dissolved solids such as salts and minerals. TDS readings are commonly used by researchers, manufacturers, and hobbyists in aquaculture, agriculture, hydroponics, and water-testing, and for scientific applications.
The single line LCD screen shows the current measurement and has an LED alarm that flashes red when the reading exceeds the selected setpoint limit. A front trimmer allows manual calibration at one point. Electrical circuitry is tightly sealed inside the water-resistant housing. The meter has a flat back to prevent rolling when placed on a table and can be wall mounted using the molded eye. The probe has an internal temperature sensor to automatically compensate against temperature changes from 5 to 50 degrees C (41 to 122 degrees F). The probe also has a direct 2-pin connector and a 2m (6.6') cable with a 1/2" thread for flow-thru mounting. The power supply is 115VAC. The meter also comes with a calibration screwdriver, 12VDC adapter, and instructions.

A pH meter, also called a sensor or tester, is a device used to measure the acidity or alkalinity of a substance. A pH meter has either a portable or a benchtop body. Many portable meters are handheld devices. Some testers have an internal sensor, and may have a tip and body that fit inside of a container for measurement. A meter is commonly used in many different environments from laboratories to field research and manufacturing facilities. Researchers, manufacturers, and hobbyists use a pH meter in aquaculture, agricultural, wine-making, and water-testing, and for scientific applications. Some pH meters may measure additional parameters such as dissolved oxygen (DO), conductivity (also called electro-conductivity or EC), temperature, total dissolved solids (TDS), salinity, resistivity, or oxygen reduction potential (ORP)/mV.
Hanna Instruments manufactures analytical instrumentation and supplies, including pH meters, electrodes, chemical reagents, and buffer solutions. The company, founded in 1978 and headquartered in Woonsocket, RI, meets International Organization for Standardization (ISO) standard 9001.
