The Hanna Instruments HI 253 is a benchtop pH, oxygen reduction potential (ORP)/mV, ion selective electrode (ISE), and temperature meter used in laboratory settings with manual temperature compensation, Automatic Temperature Compensation (ATC), three-point pH calibration, a single-line LCD screen, a combination pH electrode, a stainless steel temperature probe, and alerts. A pH/ORP/ISE meter is commonly used to measure the pH of substances, monitor chemical reactions and ion activity, or for biological sample analysis in food applications, water testing, pulp bleaching, swimming pools, cooling towers, waste water treatment, hydroponics, aquaculture, agriculture, lab, and industrial applications. The single-line LCD screen simultaneously displays the current measurement and the current temperature. Log on demand stores up to 50 samples. Alerts include time for calibration, measurement not close to buffer, and low memory for data log. The meter has an opto-isolated RS-232 serial port for data transfer.

ATC is provided by the HI 7669/2W stainless steel temperature probe (included) with 1m (3.3') cable. The meter has up to three-point pH calibration with five memorized buffers (4.01, 6.86, 7.01, 9.18, and 10.01 pH). The meter has up to two-point ion calibration with five buffers available (0.1, 1, 10, 100, and 1000). The meter comes with the HI 1131B glass body, ceramic single-junction pH electrode with a spheric tip, a Bayonet Neill-Concelman (BNC) connector + pin connector, and a 1m (3.3') coaxial cable. The meter measures ORP/mV when using a compatible ORP electrode (not included), or ISE when using a compatible ISE electrode (not included). The operating temperature is 0 to 50 degrees C (32 to 122 degrees F) with a relative humidity of 95 percent noncondensing. The dimensions are 240 x 182 x 74mm/9.4 x 7.1 x 2.9 inches (H x W x D). (H is height, the vertical distance from lowest to highest point; W is width, the horizontal distance from left to right; D is depth, the horizontal distance from front to back.)
