Product Description

The TPI 351/F1 water-resistant thermistor digital thermometer with chisel-tip probe provides precise measurements in a narrow range for laboratory and field applications. It measures temperature from -40 to 200 degrees F, with a best accuracy of + or - 1 degree F. The thermistor sensor has a narrower temperature measurement range than a thermocouple sensor but provides higher accuracy. The LCD screen shows the current temperature in degrees Fahrenheit. A chisel-tip probe with 3.15" (80 mm) stem and 15.7" (0.4 m) lead with polyvinyl chloride (PVC) insulation is provided for taking surface temperature measurements, and the meter accepts other thermistor probes with a bi-pole connection. The included rubber boot fits onto the thermometer body to help protect the thermometer from damage due to accidental drops, and the boot has a tilt stand for propping up the thermometer on a flat surface. The thermometer has an ingress protection rating of IP63, meaning it is protected against dust and direct sprays of water at up to 60 degrees from the vertical. The thermometer operates on one 9V battery (included). To conserve battery life, the thermometer automatically turns off after 30 minutes of non-use. A low-battery indicator alerts the operator when the batteries need to be changed. A soft carrying case helps protect the thermometer from damage during transport and storage.

Digital thermometers are instruments used to measure the temperature of air, liquids, or surfaces electronically. They may measure temperature in Celsius, Fahrenheit, or both. Most digital thermometers use thermistors, which are small electronic resistors. Thermistors are made out of metals that conduct electricity within a certain range and become more conductive the warmer they get. A microcontroller inside the thermometer measures this electrical conductivity and converts it to a temperature, which is displayed on an LCD. Digital thermometers are used in a wide range of applications, including in laboratory settings, food service and storage, and in doctors' offices and hospitals.

Test Products International (TPI) manufactures test and measurement equipment such as oscilloscopes, manometers, multimeters, and test leads. The company, founded in 1997, is headquartered in Beaverton, OR.
