The Hanna Instruments HI93522 dual-input thermistor digital thermometer with calibration feature and probe provides precise measurements in a narrow range for laboratory and field applications. It measures temperature from -50 to 150 degrees C (-58 to 302 degrees F), with an accuracy of + or - 0.4 degree C (0.8 degree F). The thermistor sensor provides higher accuracy than a thermocouple sensor but has a narrower temperature measurement range. This dual-channel thermometer has two inputs for connecting temperature probes, allowing the operator to measure the temperature of two samples at one time. A 100 mm (3.9 in.) stainless steel thermistor temperature probe with 1 m (3.3 foot) cable is included for taking measurements in liquids, air, and gases. Additional thermistor probes may be purchased for taking measurements in a range of sample types. A calibration feature helps maintain measurement accuracy when the probes are changed. The user has a choice of two display modes. The normal mode shows the current temperature and the highest or lowest temperature reading for the session. The relative mode shows the difference between the current temperature and a pre-set reference temperature. Measurements can be displayed for either input channel as well as the difference between the two channels. The LCD screen is backlit for readability in low light. The operator can choose to display readings in degrees Fahrenheit or Celsius. The hold function keeps a measurement on the display so it can be recorded and stores the reading in the thermometer's internal memory for future recall. The thermometer operates on three AA batteries (included). To conserve battery life, the user can program the thermometer to automatically turn off after either 8 or 60 minutes of non-use. The display shows current battery charge at start-up, and a low-battery indicator alerts the operator and turns off the thermometer when low battery charge might affect the accuracy of readings. A waterproof casing helps protect against damage from splashes and spills.
